Just to update you on my projects at home:

1. I found a way to work around the Macrovision to duplicate DVD using
my DVD Recorder (not computer). There are hacks published on the web
that will disable the Macrovision. Depending on the DVD brand, the hacks
are different. The risk of these hacks is your DVD player/recorder never
work again. I didn't apply any hack, I bought Conia DVD, made in China,
cheapest in the market (~$60 Australia), it has Macrovision disabled and
region free out of the box.

2. Converting cassette tape into MP3, recording thru microphone of the
sound card doesn't produce good quality. I found a USB device that
connect one end to USB port of your computer, the other end hook up with
the line output sockets of your cassette player. Voila!  Everything
works beautiful! Now I'm converting Nguyen Ngoc Ngan tapes for Mum.
