Hi Chau,
When a sofware displays a photo on screen, it usually scales the picture to fit the screen. But the real size of the file containing the picture is big. If you look for something listed on the top/bottom of the screen or in pulldown menu item, etc. you'll find some indicator about the scale that is used for display. For example, "30%" means the picture is scaled down to 30% of its real size. So then if you set that scale to, say 100%, you'll probably see that the picture is bigger than the full screen. 
Anyway, resize a picture is really reduce the size of the picture (in pixels) which will result in smaller size of the file. Look in "Tools/Edit/Resize" menu option of your software. It's a good thing to learn how to use the software effectively by reading manual/instruction book/help...
And, thanks for sending the pictures. You guys sure did have good times. I am lucky enough to live at a place that is pretty like the one in your photos :-) Will take landscape pictures around here some time.
